About The Chef
My name is Frank Astorga, a proud self-taught chef with many years in the making. I have no formal training other than my passion and love for the culinary arts. Learning from my mother the “old school” way has been vital to my apprenticeship. A cook never stops learning, just like any other artist. I am the youngest of four siblings, born in Mexico City and at the age of 2 we came to California.
After high school I decided to join the Army serving ten years in the reserves as a combat medic. At the age of 21 I secured a job with a federal law enforcement agency with the intent to make it a life career. After a few years I decided to change paths and I got involved in the insurance business. I then began to seriously focus on my personal culinary development and technique with dedication and discipline. My goal was to broaden my palate with the extensive and distinguished Mexican cuisine.
I have two personal consultants and advisers, my parents Mario & Esperanza Astorga. My mother was born in Michoacán Mexico and my father in Mexico City. I also have a personal assistant, my wife Ana from Jalisco Mexico. My two beautiful daughters mean the world to me and are my number one critics. I hope by sharing my personal life briefly, you may feel the essence in my sincere passion in providing my cuisine from the heart.
